Healing doesn’t happen in isolation, and it doesn’t stop when a PT session ends. I support people in continuing their physical therapy through three simple pathways: hands-on medical massage to ease pain and help the body absorb the work of PT; accountability support to keep you consistent, motivated, and aligned with your goals; or a three-month container that weaves massage and coaching together for deeper integration and lasting change. Whether you’re recovering from surgery, working toward a ski trip, or aiming to move through daily life with less pain and fear of injury, my focus is helping your body feel supported and capable—so healing becomes part of how you live.
How are massage and bodywork different?
You might be asking why you might choose bodywork rather than a massage?
In my practice, massage and bodywork are distinct ways of working that require different skills, training, and levels of engagement. Massage draws on foundational modalities such as Swedish and Shiatsu, often using oil and flowing strokes to create a deeply relaxing state while easing surface tension and knots.
Bodywork, by contrast, requires additional training and a more refined ability to sense the body at deeper levels. It is a highly interactive process, with ongoing dialogue between client and practitioner, minimal or no oil, and slow, myofascial techniques that apply sustained, intentional pressure. This approach works with the client’s tolerance to release deeper layers of tension, making bodywork a more involved and technically demanding process than massage.
Before your initial session, we will have a 20 minute introductory conversation to discuss current issues, what your goals are and if I am the right fit for your needs.
If its your first treatment, we will do a 90 minute intake appointment, go over your intake form, do a body assessment and scan with 60 minutes of massage, and I’ll be asking questions here and there to make sure everything is feeling good. Communication is key! I want you to have a really good massage – so let me know if you have any preferences.
You will be fully draped with sheets when you are lying on the massage table. I am a medical professional and will make sure that only the area I am working on will be undraped. You may disrobe to your level of comfort.
At the end of the session, we’ll discuss my assessment findings and check in about how the session went and goals.
We create a plan for moving forward to meet your specific goals. Often some coaching can be incorporated into the session to help further understand the full picture, including discussing diet, lifestyle, stress, and what role rest and relaxation play in your life.
I require 48 hours notice for cancellations. All late cancellations will be charged a fee. If you do not show up you will be charged the full cost of the session.
“From start to finish, my first session with Sim was a great experience. Besides the skillful use of his hands to help stretch and open tight areas, his communication is exceptional. He was consistently attentive to what I needed, prompting me for feedback and sharing (as I desired) what he noticed. His signature laughter and joyful approach to bodywork was disarming, and it contributed enormously to me being able to tune into the experience, let go of multiple layers of holding, and leave with a deep calm and sense of well-being. I had zero hesitation when asked if I wanted to reschedule — yes please!”
